Freerangers

Dear Friends and Colleagues

You are cordially invited to the 7th Freerangers’ gathering that will take place in South Africa from Saturday 5th to Tuesday January 8th 2013. The gathering will start and be concluded soon after and just before lunch respectively.

After considerable discussions between and among the organisors and facilitators of next year’s event, we settled for the following theme:

"Becoming a vibrant, life-affirming, citizen-active, resilient, viable Freeranger." The theme is essentially concerned about how we can become better at what we do and how we do it while at the same time ensuring our own sustainability and contributing to the processes that are bigger than the assignments we take on. For those who have been to previous events, you know what it means to start the year with a meeting of minds that draws on the collective wisdom and experience of our past and the creative force of imagination. For those who haven’t been, it’s time you came to experience it, because while it demands commitment in terms of time and money, it pays off handsomely. Part of the beauty lies in the events’ ability to respond to the needs of the individual consultant, as well as to those of the group.

The venue of the gathering is the Good Shepherd Retreat, near Johannesburg: http://www.goodshepherdretreat.co.za. The venue is 1 hour from Johannesburg, 40 minutes from Pretoria (to the east) and 4 hours south of Gaborone, Botswana. For those of your travelling by road from Beit Bridge, the best way to reach the venue is through Pretoria. For those flying, the best destination is OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg.

The full board cost per person is R420.00/night (about US$50) for a single room, and R380.00/nite (about US$45) sharing. Dorm accommodation is also available at a slightly lower rate. These prices include 3 meals a day, 2 teas a day with cookies, accommodation & the use of one meeting room.

The Retreat is in a quiet and reflective setting at the Hartebeestpoort dam in the Magaliesberg Mountains as has been described as:

A centre for stillness and reflection, allowing you to get miles away from the hustle and bustle. It provides you with a space to remove yourself from the busy stressful life and gives you an opportunity for rest and reflection.

Local Freerangers will help to coordinate transfers to and from the venue as required. This help will attract an extra cost, depending on the places from which people will be picked up, the number of people per trip and whether hired transport will be used.

We need to have some indication of numbers in order to finalize the reservation. So please reply to Tracey Konstant (email: tlk@mweb.co.za) by 25 October with:

  • "Definitely - I'm there"
  • "Maybe - I'll try" or
  • "Sorry - not this year".

Please indicate what kind of accommodation you would like and if you will require a transfer to & from the venue.

And please spread this invitation around to as many people as possible and use your powers to persuade others to come!!

With warm wishes
