Briefing in the Margin of the ECOSOC Operational Activities Segment

Monday 22 February 2016

1:15pm – 2:45pm

Conference room 8

Achieving the Global Goals by 2030 will depend heavily on the quality of development cooperation. With the ability to help drive the institutional and societal changes needed for an inclusive and integrated approach to sustainable development, development cooperation in all its forms will be critical to efforts to transform our world by 2030.

The ECOSOC Development Cooperation Forum (DCF) is leading the way in knowledge sharing on policy and best practice approaches to maximise the potential of development cooperation in the SDG era. Through peer to peer learning among the diversity of actors, the DCF is the principal space for all stakeholders to contribute valuable policy guidance on development cooperation to the ECOSOC and General Assembly’s follow-up and review mechanisms of the Global Goals, as well as to implementation efforts at country level.

We are pleased to invite you to this briefing on preparatory process for the 2016 DCF, which will be held in the second half of July at UN Headquarters in New York. This briefing is an important opportunity for all New York-based delegates and other development experts to hear key messages from the ongoing preparatory process and to provide their inputs on the challenges and opportunities for development cooperation in the context of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

Please find attached the concept note and programme. For further information on the briefing and the 2016 DCF process, please visit the DCF website. Please also feel free to circulate this message to all interested colleagues.

We hope that you will join us at this briefing and at the 2016 High-level Meeting of the Development Cooperation Forum in July.
