This study focuses on options for enhancing the performance of youth-run-enterprises (YRE) in Kenya. Conclusions reached by the study are: that perceptions and environmental influences are important predictors of performance of YRE; that measures that enhance perception of individuals and boost networking will lead to higher performance levels in YRE and that resources (information, finances and role models) are important factors in enhancing performance of YRE. The study recommends that there is a need to improve the performance of YRE's if they are to be pillars of wealth and employment creation by: programmes aimed at improving perceptions of younger entrepreneurs; initiatives that focus on improving income levels at the household level; policies specifically geared towards youth in business and by linking young entrepreneurs into business associations.
