The Midrand Meeting on 22-23 August 2011, is being convened as a purely technical pre-engagement in preparation for the Multi-agency Task Team Consultation under the auspices of the AUC Bureau of the Chairperson.
The primary purpose of the meeting is to further refine the draft African position for the 4th High Level Forum on Aid Effectiveness (HLF-IV AE) scheduled for Busan, South Korea from 29 November to 1 December 2011.

The Investors Forum is for representatives from governments and businesses to learn about their investment needs; products and services, and opportunities for partnering and collaborations that could benefit host communities and partners.
Participants will be able to explore innovations and ideas in financial and consulting technologies more suitable for developing economies. Compare case studies about governments and investors different needs especially pertaining to the application and implementation of investments into green projects and industries.

The 2-day meeting of the Africa Post-Busan Technical Working Group made specific proposals towards defining Africa's overall strategy for engagement and develop agreed submissions to the 2nd Post-Busan Interim Group (PBIG) meeting in April 2012. The technical group meeting followed the 2012 Annual AUC/ECA Joint Conference of African Ministers of Finance, Economy and Planning for the necessary political direction.

On May 9-10, 2011 in Abuja, the NEPAD Planning and Coordinating Agency in conjunction with the African Union Commission (AUC) with support of the World Bank Institute convened a meeting of senior officials from African Regional Economic Communities (RECs) and other regional and international institutions to launch and define the contours and scope of a Series of REC-to-REC Dialogues on Regional Trade Integration.

Building a prosperous African continent through the efforts of African citizens is essentially an agenda for developing the capacity of actors – individuals, organizations and wider systems. The gains in education, agricultural production, infrastructure and gender equality will not be sustained without a lasting endogenous capacity in sectors to continue to deliver services and to regulate so that citizens can enjoy healthy, safe and productive lives and contribute to Africa’s development.

Capacity development is central in advancing and realizing a citizen-driven transformation agenda towards securing growth and development in Africa. A key function of capacity development is to facilitate the empowerment of African citizens to fulfill their creative potential and take full ownership of the development agenda and processes alongside state and non-state actors: politicians; government officials; economic actors and researchers.

Building on the outcomes of the 1st Africa Meeting and Bogota High Level Event, the NEPAD Agency teamed up with the African Development Bank to co-organize the 2nd Regional Meeting on Aid Effectiveness, South-South Cooperation and Capacity Development, 4-5 November 2010. I therefore led the NEPAD Agency team at the 2nd Africa Regional Meeting on Development Effectiveness that focused. The main objective of the meeting was towards the preparation of the High Level Forum 4 in Busan, 2011.
